Gareth Slinn

Frontend web developer

I am a professional front end developer with flair and experience for developing clients-side solutions. Having worked for some of the most respected digital agencies in London I have gained considerable knowledge and experience. I have been involved with high level campaigns and web build projects and take great pride in such achievements.

Gaining leadership skills overtime I have mentored junior front-end developers within the team and passed on your invaluable industry knowledge. Over the years I have built everything from microsites to large CMS managed portals.

I specialise in XHTML, CSS, JavaScript libraries such a jquery, W3C compliancy and strong awareness of accessibility(WAI/Section 508). My understanding of cross browser development covers IE5+, Opera, Firefox, Safari and other less known browsers. I have an appreciation of both transitional and strict doctypes plus an understanding of quirks mode.

Having practical experience with Photoshop and basic design skills ensures minimal reliance on the designer for mundane tasks such as cutting out images or optimisation.

Being a respected member of the team is very important to me. I am only as good as my last contract so it makes perfect sense to do my best and maintain a lasting relationship with my team and the client.

Accessibility by Example

As the internet evolves so does the importance of accessibility and its impact on us all. Web authors and those who have an active participation in site conscruction should embrace the basic concepts of accessibility if only to improve the quality of their site. Accessibility is not just about assisting people with disabilities, the effects are much wider than this. As mobile devices such as phones continue to rely on internet access so does the importance of allow such devices to access your site. Accessibility therefore has wider implications and should be considered as an essential requirement for any successful site.

This book has been designed to aid web authors already familiar with HTML. I have covered all key aspects of web site accessibilty and presented examples where applicable. It is a very easy book to follow and has lots of quick code examples and simple explanations.
